Before DARDI became a player in manufacturing waterjet cutting machines in 1996, it was very expensive to own and operate a waterjet cutting machine. The market in China for UHP waterjet applications was dominated by foreign companies.

DARDI was tasked in writing the first UHP waterjet cutting machine standard JB/T10351-2002 in China that is followed respectively by Chinese manufacturers of waterjet cutting machines.
DARDI welcomes the competition, both in China and abroad. The competition benefits the users with cutting and machining needs the most, bringing them with cheaper but better products. DARDI now owns more than 50% of market share of waterjet cutting machines in China. DARDI is also leading the compaign to expand the market share of waterjet applications
